Apple Watch Bands & Straps

Tricks and tips of apple Watch bands

If you’re ready to buy an Apple Watch, you’ll need to consider the size of your wrist and the band options that best suit it. Most Apple watch band sizes will fit most people’s wrists. Of course, there are a few bands that are only available in certain sizes.

If you go to a physical Apple shop to buy an Apple Watch, then you can get your hands on the band and try it on to find the right size for you, but if you’re buying an Apple Watch online, you’ll need to measure your own wrist to pick the correct band size for you.

This sizing guide can be applied to different Apple watch bands to help you choose the best one for you.

Choosing A Band

In most cases, each Apple Watch band has a good range of sizes, and you only really need to pay close attention if you have a smaller or larger than average wrist.

The Solo Loop and Solo Braided Loop are particularly tricky to size, so measurements for these watches need to be accurate. With other Apple Watch bands you don’t need to be as careful, but it is useful to get accurate measurements to ensure a good fit.

Wrap-around bands like the Sport Loop are the most forgiving in both cases, and if you have a larger wrist, the Sport Band and Sport Loop may fit where other bands don’t. For smaller wrists, the Sport Loop can be tightened and it will provide a better fit than, for example, the Sport Band.

With any strap, it’s a good idea to try it on at an Apple retail shop if you can so you can get an idea of the different materials and how they feel on your wrist. This is particularly helpful with the Solo Loop and Solo Braided Loop, as the measuring tools are not accurate for everyone.

How to measure your wrist

It’s the first step to measure your wrist size before buying an Apple watch band. If you have a cloth tape measure on hand, you can wrap it around your wrist to get your wrist size, then to choose the best Apple watch band fit you. Don’t have a cloth tape measure? Use a string, wrap it around your wrist and measure the length of the string.

Make sure the string and measuring tape you use is not stretchy to avoid an error in measurement. If you don’t have string and measuring tape, then you can use any string-shape things, like cutting a piece of paper into a strip. When doing these measurements, make sure the tape measure, string, or paper is fit tightly to your wrist and that it is not sliding around.

measure your wrist

If your rule or measuring tape is in inches and centimeters, you may need to convert the measurement to millimeters because almost all of the Apple watch bands use millimeters as sizing guidelines. Siri can provide a quick conversion for you if you need it.

Apple Watch Sizes

Apple offers the Apple Watch Series 7 in 41mm and 45mm size casing sizes, the Apple Watch 6, 5, 4, SE in 40 and 44mm size options and Apple Watch 3,2,1 in 38 and 42mm. The first step in choosing an Apple Watch band is to select the right-sized Apple Watch.

Apple Watch Size

Those with smaller wrists will want to opt for the smaller Apple Watch options, while larger wrists will need the bigger models. The 40/41mm Apple Watch models are designed to fit wrists sized 130 to 200mm, while the 44/45mm Apple Watch models are sized to fit wrists between 140 and 220mm.

If you have chosen the appropriate Apple watch size, you can start choosing the size of the Apple Watch band. There are many different materials of Apple watch bands on the market. Below, we will introduce each of the different material bands and how they feel in your hands.

Each of the different straps are available in different sizes, but most of them fit most wrist sizes. And not all bands are compatible with both models.

Solo Loop and Braided Solo Loop

The Solo Loop and Braided Solo Loop are the Apple watch bands with no buckle. That’s mean you can’t adjust the band’s size. Therefore, choosing a band in correct size is essential.

Don’ want to make mistake? It is better to visit an Apple store in person to try the band. If you can’t get to an ‌Apple Store, Apple offers a measurement tool online‌. On the store page for the Solo Loop, click on the “Start your measurement” option to download and print Apple’s sizing tool.

Even with the tool, some Apple Watch Solo band users have not gotten the right fit, which is again why we recommend trying the band in a store if possible.

Both of these bands are stretchy that allows them to slip over a hand and contract on a wrist. That’s also mean they will stretch over time, so it may be worthwhile to size down from your measured size.

Silicone Sports Bands and Nike Band

There are many different kinds of silicone sport band. All of them are made from silicone. Silicone has a soft touch feel and smooth. It is waterproof and sweatproof, and it does not have stretch. Because these bands have holes for an adjustable fit so you don’t need to choose a certain size. There are usually two sizes of these bands, S/M, M/L. After choosing your watch size, you just need to check the size range below.

Apple’s Sport Loop is made from woven nylon with a hook and loop fastener. One side is a velcro-like material that adheres the Sport Loop tightly to your wrist. It doesn’t use holes like the Sport Band, so you can get an even more customized fit.

The nylon sport loop is soft and fit. It won’t give you a rash. But the raw material is not waterproof, so you’d better not take the band together when you are going to swimming.
It comes in two sizes for the smaller and larger Apple Watch models, and if you have a larger wrist, this is one of the bands with the widest fit range. This is also a good choice for smaller wrists because there is no hole then you can adjust the size as much as you can.

Milanese Loop

The Milanese Loop is made from a stainless steel mesh. Like most Apple Watch bands, sizing starts at 130mm, but it’s worth noting that this is one of the smaller Apple Watch bands, topping out at 200mm. If you have a larger wrist (Over 7.8 inches), the Milanese Loop may be too small.

The Milanese Loop is a fashion band and it is not meant to be used for exercise nor is it meant to get wet, but it won’t soak up water like the Sport Loop if it does get water on it.

  • Compatibility: 38mm, 40mm, 41mm, 42mm, 44mm, 45mm Apple Watches.
  • Sizing, 40 and 41mm: Fits wrists sized 135mm to 195mm.
  • Sizing, 44 and 45mm: Fits wrists sized 150mm to 200mm.
Link Bracelet

Made from a stainless steel alloy, the Link Bracelet is with a link design that looks similar to a luxury watch band. It is Adepoy’s most expensive band because the raw material is expensive, the production process is difficult and it is easy to rust. Sizing can only be adjusted by removing links, so there’s less flexibility with the Link Bracelet than with other bands.

Sizing on the Link Bracelet starts at 135mm so it’s a bit bigger than some other Apple Watch bands, and it maxes out at 200mm, so the size range is smaller than other options. Because of the way it fits, you’re going to want to make sure you’re right within the size measurements listed below.

Links can be removed or added with a release button, so it’s easy to adjust the size once you purchase this band. No need any tool to remove the links.
